Presently, the Cosco Group (China Ocean Shipping Group Company) is formed by 8 main subsidiaries that control and operate a modern commercial fleet of more than 600 ships, serving approximately 1,100 ports in more than 150 countries around the world.
Founded in February 16, 1993, the Cosco Group incorporates other three large companies: China Ocean Shipping Agency, China Marine Bunker Supply Company and China Road Transportation Company.
Having the international ocean-freight as its focus business, the group has also diversified into businesses that include the financial, tourism, air-transportation, freight forwarding cargo brokerage, warehousing and port administration, industry, commerce, insurance, investment, naval electronic-engineering, publicity and others.

CHINA OCEAN SHIPPING (GROUP) COMPANY
(COSCO Group for Short) is a large conglomrate making international shipping as its core business and encumpassing shipping agency, forwarding, air freight forwarding, terminals and warchousing, inland haulage, trade, industry, financial affairs, insurance,real eatate, tourism, contract employment and medium-level and higher education. It is one of the 56 big Group of enterprises approved by the State.
COSCO Container Lines
Cosco Container Lines (Coscon) was founded in December 28, 1993, to centralize the Group's international container-transport activities, which marks a new phase of COSCO Groups container transportation and establishes the due status of COSCO Group in the international shipping industry which is characterized by the ever faster development of the international trade and the ever acute competition.
Coscon controls and operates a fleet of 155 container ships with a total capacity of 170,000 teus. Altogether, its own and leased containers exceed 300,000 teus.
In its 58 container transport lines presently in operation, approximately 300 departs are registered around the world.
Coscon currently owns 118 container vessels totaling roughly 210 thousand TEU, among which 6 post-panamax full container vessels with 5,446 TEU each are the most advanced in the world. With over 20 main shipping routes connecting 100 and more ports on the globe, Coscon ranks among the top global liners.

Established on February 18, 1993, Shenzhen Ocean Shipping Co. Ltd. was a joint-venture of Cosco. At present, it owns 7 ocean-going vessels, with a tonnage of 283,000 and the total assets of 390,000,000 yuan. At the same time, it also operates 6 chartered vessels. It is the biggest ocean shipping company in Shenzhen.
QINGDAO OCEAN SHIPPING COMPANY
Qingdao Ocean Shipping Company being the main stockholder of COSCO Bulk Carriers Co., Ltd. belongs to China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co. Specialized in bulk carrier operation, management, chartering, seafarer services, charterig, repairing, tourism, hotel managing, etc. 6700 skilled and experienced staff manage 55 bulk carrier vessels and 5 conventional vessels (total 60,000dwt).
XIAMEN OCEAN SHIPPING CO
Xiamen Ocean Shipping Company, (COSCOXIAMEN for short), was funded on October the 28th, 1993, which is directly under the control of COSCO Group. The company now owns 17 various types of ships, including bulk carrier, general cargo ship, LPG carrier, totaling 350,000dwt.
Dalian Ocean Shipping Company
Dalian Ocean Shipping Company is a large state-owned shipping enterprise, a direct subordinate company to the China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO Group). The com-pany presently owns more than 30 ships of various types, totaling to 500,000 dwt. Its shipping service covers more than 300 ports in over 70 countries and regions worldwide. The com-pany aims at transporting liquefied cargoes with the emphasis of oil, then at timbers and general cargoes. There are also more than 20 enterprises subordinate to the company to operated in the form of foreign-invested, joint-venture, and partnership. The business of these enterprises includes real estate, crew manning, passenger and cargo transport by the sea and on land, freight agency, ship repair, warehousing, trade, tourism, and restaurant.
