The foundation of China Ocean Shipping Companies Group on February 16, 1993 marked a new step in the China Ocean Shipping Company's history of development.

Currently the group consists of eight subsidiaries that own and operate a modern commercial fleet of more than 500 ships passing more than 15 million tons deadweight, including ships for containers, ro-ro's, ships for general cargo, timber, chilled, passengers / general cargo, bulk carriers and tankers.

In all, the fleet serves 1,100 ports in more than 150 countries and regions around the world.

The China Ocean Shipping Companies Group (COSCO Group), along with China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company incorporate other three major companies: China Ocean Shipping Agency, China Marine Bunker Supply Company and China Road Transportation Company.

Having international shipping as their main activity, the group has diversified its business in virtually all the world. Thus, its activities also include areas such as finance, tourism, air transport, freight forwarding, storage, port administration, industry, commerce, insurance, investment, engineering, naval electronics, advertising, etc.
